Currently taking our church through a series called "The Voice of the Prophets" where we are looking each week at a different minor prophet from the Old Testament.
Here are some thoughts from this weeks message in Habakkuk:
Ultimately, Habakkuk seems to conclude from his questions and complaints that the focus shouldnt be on all the "why" questions but only on the "Who", which for him was God. The Bible Knowledge Commentary summarizes Habakkuk's conclusions this way, "Habakkuk begins with interrogation and ends with intercession, worry transformed to worship, fear turned into faith, terro became trust, hangups were restored with hope, anguish melted into adoration. It began with a question and ended with an exclamation! Why the conflict could only be answered by Who was in control...God!"
The deeper we go in our relationship with God we truly find it isnt about the why but about the Who. Some questions for further thought:
1-Are we more consumed with the why or with the who?
2-Does our focus on the who make us different?
3-Does our focus on the who change our outlook?
4-How are we responding with the call to live by faith? (Hab. 2:4)
